Description

The latest two Mavic 2 of DJI – Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom have arrived at HTcamera.vn

A special feature on these two new drones is that one is equipped with the L1D-20C camera cluster by the famous Hasselblad camera manufacturer with a large sensor 1″, and the other is the world’s first drone capable of 2x zoom with focal length from 24mm to 48mm (equivalent on fullframe). Other than that, the other parameters on these two drones are the same, even according to DJI, you can change the gimbal and camera clusters when buying Mavic 2 Gimbal Camera Replacement Service and this change must be sent to DJI, not replacing by yourself

As you know, the Mavic Pro has been DJI’s best-selling and most successful drone for two years with feature upgrades and downsizing to be more flexible. A few days ago, DJI announced the next upgrade of the Mavic Pro with a series of new technologies that promise to support more users, first is the parameters of the Mavic 2 camera set – Mavic Pro 2 and Mavic 2 Zoom.

The table compares the specifications between Mavic Pro, Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom to show that DJI has a lot upgrades since Mavic Pro.

Regarding the difference in camera cluster on the 2 Mavic 2 cameras, we can see that DJI has started to pay more attention on image quality when they has clearly divided into 2 different segments:

Mavic 2 Pro with Hasselblad camera cluster is aimed at users who are professional photographers with the following parameters:

  • Sensors: 1″- 20MP for higher quality, sharpness and color photos and shots
  • The lens with 28mm fixed focus can change aperture from f/2.8-11 to easily manage the light in different lighting conditions.
  • Filming: 4k / 30p and FHD / 120p
  • Color mode: Dlog-M (10bit), support HDR video (10bit)
  • ISO: 100 -12800
With the specs and lenses with 28mm focal length produced by Hasselblad, Mavic 2 Pro has a remarkable improvement in image quality as well as better post-color support than previous Mavic models.

Mavic 2 Zoom with slightly lower parameters, aims for greater convenience in approaching objects by zooming and the ability to shoot stunning Dolly Zoom effects:

  • Sensor: 1 / 2.3 “- 12MP
  • In addition, the fast focus ability is also improved by 40% compared to Mavic Pro
  • Mavic 2 Zoom also has a new mode called SuperRes, which captures 9 different images at the maximum focal length and then reassembles them to create images with up to 48MP resolution
  • Filming: 4k / 30p and FHD / 120p
  • ISO: 100 – 3200

But in return, Mavic 2 Zoom brings the focus shift shots for the first time on drone and the most outstanding ability is shooting Dolly Zoom effects that famous Hollywood directors like Alfred Hitcock have mesmerized viewers.

With a focal length of 2x from 24mm to 48mm, Mavic 2 Zoom will help you capture and record remote subjects without distracting by the noise from the drone’s engine and propeller. Therefore, the Mavic 2 Zoom series will help wildlife videographers approaching animals with the drone that makes no noise causing them panic.

Both two Mavic 2 cameras support HDR Photo, which helps to combine multiple photos taken at the same time to create better images with high dynamic range and higher image detail in harsh lighting conditions.

The next notable upgrade on two Mavic 2 is the new Hyperlapse mode with four different flight options: circle for subject, course lock, way points and free flying. With these modes, you can record beautiful Hyperlapse videos with extended time without having to rely on the battery capacity on the computer since the drone will remember exactly the coordinates of the previous Hyperlapse to return to the right coordinates for different moments of the same location. This feature may be the key to Mavic 2 Pro usurping the best-selling drone of its predecessor.
The hardware has also been upgraded a lot in terms of performance when it can fly at 72km/h with longer flight times up to 31 minutes in Sport mode compared to 27 minutes on Mavic Pro and DJI’s latest 3-axis anti – vibration ability. However, to achieve this, DJI must sacrifice in terms of size and volume on its two new drones since it is slightly larger and heavier than its predecessor.
Mavic 2 Pro / Zoom is the first DJI drone equipped with multidirectional sensors around its body to avoid obstacles even though it only works when using ActiveTrack 2.0 flight features. ActiveTrack 2.0 object tracking has been upgraded to use both front and main camera sensors to create a 3D map of the front objects, which the old Mavic has not yet done. In addition, Mavic 2 is also equipped with new auxiliary lights at the bottom, which helps it safely land in low light conditions.
The next upgrade is a completely new electric motor with a new designed impeller with a slanted angle to reduce noise when operating as the Phantom 4 Pro V.2.0 helps reduce power consumption and increase efficiency.
Instead of using Lightbridge, Mavic 2 uses DJI’s latest OccuSync 2.0 technology, allowing better signal improvement when video live streaming. Automatically switching between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands, enabling Mavic 2 to receive 1080p video signal with a distance of up to 8km.
